This website dedicates itself to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle while providing the latest news, tips, and advice on the sports you love. We believe that sports are more than just a way to stay in shape; they are a way of life.
Below are some of the people who test our gear and provide many of the tips and suggestions we share with our fans here at skatingmagic.com. This is downhill rollerblading done at a moderate speed at Ngong Hills near Nairobi, Kenya. SkatingMagic.com was founded in 2019 by Mercy, a camera-shy girl who’s always been a bit of a tomboy, and her husband Jason, an avid outdoorsman. As a young girl, Mercy would often forget to do her household chores because she was too busy having fun with the boys lol.
Her passion for outdoor activities, especially skating, has only grown over the years. Together with their two kids, a nephew, and a niece, they have fallen in love with staying active.

And can you believe Mercy met her hubby, Jason, while out riding her skateboard? That’s what happened. She saw this nice-looking dude riding a longboard one Saturday afternoon, and she instantly knew he was the one! We’ll spare you the details of what happened afterward, but they’re now happily married with two kids, Richie and Ryan.
But nobody builds anything beautiful without using a little help, at least some of the time. We are proud to work with a team of hardcore skaters including Ian (from left), Buji, Rogers, and Muka to the far right.
We also work with a separate bunch of boys and girls who like dancing on roller skates (we’ll upload their most recent photo soonest we can). Together, these guys have been skating for years and have taken all kinds of falls, breaking wrists and ankles at times. I mean, what self-respecting skater lacks scars to prove how hard they’ve fought in past battles on wheels?
They’ve worn all sorts of good and bad gear over the years. And when they tell us that a skate, helmet, or any other kind of gear isn’t good, we believe them. Our team of experts is dedicated to testing and reviewing the latest skating equipment and gear, so you can make informed purchasing decisions.
But we are more than just an outdoor gear review site. Here, beginners access a variety of resources to show them how to get started while experienced skaters take their skills to the next level.
Our beginner tutorials provide step-by-step guidance on everything from choosing the right equipment to basic skating techniques. We also offer advice on safety measures and protective gear to keep you safe while you’re having fun indoors or outdoors.
We understand that skating and other outdoor activities can be intimidating for beginners. That’s why we’ve created a Youtube channel where they can connect with other skaters, share tips, get advice, and ask questions.
Also, our team members participate in various local skating events and meetups (in Nairobi), providing a fun and social way to enjoy skating and make new friends.

How We Test Out Gear
Our people have skated the vast majority of the skate gear we review: helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, inline skates, roller skates, skateboards, and ice skates. Yes, we said ice skating also happens in tropical countries. Our very own Rogers ice skates at Panari Hotel some of the time. Heck, the dude’s even learned how to do all those crazy jumps that figure skaters do!
When we review anything we’ve not tested yet we always let our readers know. But even then, we take a deep dive into online reviews on places such as Amazon, Reddit, and elsewhere and read user comments to get an accurate opinion of what a particular piece of gear might perform. Since we’re skaters, we know what information would be useful to our readers and leave everything else out.
Other times skate brands and other companies send over gear to us for review. Where this is the case, we mention that so that you’re sure someone else paid for the product. We always make it clear to the company that the opinions we write are always an honest account of how the gear performed in different test conditions.
In some cases, our people test gear they might have borrowed from others. When this happens, we make sure to let our readers know because we value honesty and transparency.
We never call a low-quality skate great or even decent if it’s not. Plus we’re always careful when using words such as excellent, amazing, or great when reporting our experiences with various products.
On the whole, you can rest assured that every piece of equipment we review here at skatingmagic.com is something we have tested or have useful information about.
